Fiesta de Azucar! Sewing Skull Block!

File Jul 01, 9 41 25 AM

Well, everyone!  It’s time for us to get our skulls on!  Now, anyone who knows me well knows I love skulls, and people send me sugar skulls along with every other kind of skull you can imagine.

As you may also know, Halloween is another important holiday to me.  Dia de los Muertos (or the Day of the Dead) starts on Halloween and ends on Nov 2nd.  It’s time to remember our loved ones who have passed on.  And my sugar skull honors the seamstresses and crafters of my in-laws, the Busch sisters.

SugarskullI have spoken about the Busch sisters in my lecture Working Weekly, because they were so willing to teach me everything they knew about crafting.  Quilting, caning a chair, and canning.  Rug hooking, cross stitch, and knitting.  They knew everything.  And I was willing to learn.  They are all gone now, but I wish they could see me now.   My skull had to have my eyebrows.  ha ha!

You can get my block here on my online shop,  here on my Etsy shop, or here on Craftsy.   The directions and pattern are ONLY $3 and delivered via PDF.  Pick the site you like best and place your order today!
