An important message

(Me and Ami)
I have recently hurt my back and can’t do much sewing, so I have little to show you today, but my quilt guild’s “show” was this past weekend and out guest speaker was Ami Simms.

Ami spoke to us about her Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative and the touching story of her mother Beebe. My grandmother passed away March 10th 2006 from Alzheimer’s Disease and it’s been a tough week thinking of her. I made a Priority Quilt for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative, and when it is posted for auction, I will let you know. Below is a picture of it.

(“Remember when?”)

Grandma was ornery to begin with, and we had a rough relationship, but right when I was interested to know more about her, she had lost the ability to tell me anything. Eventually, she had to live in a nursing home, and she was sure ornery there too. Below is my virtual “Purple Patch” in her honor. If you know someone touched by this horrible disease, I encourage you to bid on my quilt, donate money, time or otherwise, and hopefully we can find a cure for the next generations.
