Whoa! Got 4 ATCs done for a swap, started a pin weaving sample, will work on a poncho later today. May finish the last of the circle projects tomorrow, since I have that day off too.
These ATCs are for a “Show us your Gene’s” swap. Now, take two hobbies you like and put them together and you get these. I thought they came out “scrapbook style”.

Got one ATC in the mail from Jan in ND. It’s awesome!!! I hope I get some more cool ones back from the Hello Kitty and Beaded swaps.

The OK quilters have moved on to 6″ samples of “texture”. (thank goodness the circles are done) So cool!!! I should start that tomorrow, depending on the poncho.

I need to get back into the art soon, but it seems like I have no time…

Ok, so my ATC stuff showed up, YAY! Now I can make a few paper ATCs for gifts in the trades.

I’m itching to make something out of the dryer sheets in the next couple of days as well.

My second circle project revolves around the “principles and elements” of art. One concept, the circle, interpreted as many ways as possible using the principles and elements. I’ll post pics soon.
I really need my OK Quilters to move on to another topic soon. I’m burning out on circles….

The last of my current ATCs went out the door this week. Beads. Very cool.

It’s 6-6-06. Today would have been Grandma’s birthday, had she not passed on March 10th. My Dad has the little cardinal quilt wallhanging I made her. She loved cardinals.

I have been deceptively sidetracked from quilts with the Kanzashi and Amigurumi’s. However, I have been making those addictive Artist Trading Cards for trades over at www.atcards.com.

Now, I know I won’t get quilts back, but one of the swaps is a beaded card, so there’s a good chance there. I also made these Hello Kitty cards. I had fun making them and can’t wait to see what I get back. I ordered some ATC makings from www.orientaltrading.com. I’ll post the beaded cards when they are done this week. They have to go to Scotland, so I have to send them soon.

So much I want to do and so little time….

I haven’t posted in a while so here are a few updates:

Here is the result of dyeing dryer sheets. I think they are very pretty. This is post Synthrapol and washing and the colors are still nice.

I’ve been working on circle designs based on Principles and Elements of art. I will have some fused samples by tomorrow to take to my OK Quilters meeting.

Also, I’ve been sidetracked with other crafts since my last post. I found out about amigurumi’s, which are little crocheted animals and creatures. This month’s Crochet Me online ‘zine has an article about them. I was taught to crochet by a nun who lived on my block as a kid, so I do still dabble in crocheting.

Another thing that I have been obsessed with learning about are kanzashi, the flowered headdresses worn by geisha. There are a few online tutorials on how to make them, and given my penchant for things in the third dimension, I will try my hand at them this weekend.

I also have been making things for the ATCards.com forum swaps I signed up for. I am very excited about making ATCs (Artist Trading Cards), and even though I know I won’t get quilted ones back in the swap, I am excited to try this out.

Lastly, here are some things on my design wall. One is a miniature based on my all time favorite painting, Beata Beatrix by Dante Gabriel Rossetti. There’s thread play, some fused Angelina items from my workshop in Chicago, and a painted piece of Lutradur, from the Cloth Paper Scissors “Make it U” workshop.

I found that Setacolor fabric dye will dye used and re-washed dryer anti-static sheets. I was dyeing some fat eighths and I had leftover dye. I also dyed a “color catcher”, those things from Shout brands that you throw into the wash with things that might bleed onto your laundry. It took the color pretty well. I’ll get some pictures of them up here soon. Funny….it was a beautiful sunny Sunday until I started dyeing outside. That’s when the clouds rolled in. So much for SetaColor sun painting… The dryer sheets were very bright until I washed them in Synthrapol, but they are still definitely dyed. Next time I will use more concentrated dye, mine was a little thin.

In the meantime, I have some new ATCs on my trading card page, as well as all of my dimensional flower projects on my 3-D page. Here is a card made from vintage Kimono fabric.
