Technique of the Week – Week 12 – Glue Resist Painting

yr4week12

This week we’re taking a look at using glue as a resist for painted quilts.

Skill Level: Beginner
Time Commitment: Weekend
Cost: Under $10

Here’s another project that takes a weekend to complete, but the time is totally worth it.  I had a lot of fun using Elmer’s gel glue to draw out my design like I was using a marker. The little squeeze tip on the bottle makes it pretty easy. Once again I deviated from my squid theme, but sometimes you just have to go where inspiration takes you, and I’ve been drawing this cute girl since I was a little girl myself, so here she is on this quilt.

Check out the video, and be sure you take note of the fact that this project requires fabric paints.  You will be washing out the glue, so you don’t want your paint going with it!

Have fun, and we’ll see you again next week.
